Welcome to the Atheist Community of Grande Prairie official website. If you already know who we are and what we are all about, or don’t really care, click the ‘Discussion‘ link to get to the blog posts. Please take the time to look around and let us know what you think, and for any of you that may be interested we do also have a Facebook page, and a Twitter feed (@GP_Atheists). We would also like to extend an invitation to anyone, regardless of your perspective, that would like to add content to this site. We greatly appreciate your support, comments, blog posts, and all other types of post worthy material. We will add anything that is submitted in the spirit of true discussion.
The purpose of our site is simple. To create a forum in which individuals can safely express their thoughts and have discussions with others that share an interest/passion for theological debate and discovery. In addition, we are trying to engage apathetic ‘believers’ & ‘non-believers’ alike, and introduce them to new ideas and new ways of looking at old ones in an effort to sensitize them to what we feel are extremely important issues.

We also hope to be a small part of the growing effort to de-villianize the generally accepted perception that many have of atheists, agnostics, and other freethinkers. The end goal being to create a social atmosphere in which the taboo of criticizing all things spiritual and religious disappears. So that we can openly engage each other in a honest, respectful, meaningful discourse on the existence of god, the value and necessity of religious institutions, and attempt to evaluate their influence on our society and culture in an unbiased manor to determine together if the influence is a positive one.
